I am a shooter, and proud of it!
That sounds like the sort of statement that someone makes at a meeting for people with addictions! But being a shooter can be seen by some as ‘rather non PC’. Frankly I don’t care if people disapprove, I only shoot targets made of paper and have to comply with the toughest laws in the world relating to ownership and use of firearms.
My son is a fan of Modern Warfare on his Xbox (MW3 is the latest), but this really doesn’t appeal to me. However I have been sent a link to the New Zealand army website which is frankly great – I am not sure if it’s a good way to recruit, but it is great fun.
The link is here (it may take a while to load).
Have a go – you may even enjoy yourself!

I just got a score of 87.74 on the first round and it’s only 7:20 in the morning… Not too shabby!
We actually have a shooting range just round the corner from us, built into a dis-used railway tunnel, just off Carlton Road. Not sure if it’s air guns or “real” guns, but I often see a collection of people stood nearby talking with gun cases slung over their shoulders… Can be a bit intimidating when you need to squeeze past them on the way to the bus stop!

It’s a good one to try when you can’t sleep!
I know the range on Carlton Rd, never actually shot there, but it is still actively used. The city has actually lost lots of ranges over the last 20 years. There are also some in most unusual places – like in caves below the castle!
